Ada Lovelace

Ada Lovelace, also known as Augusta Ada King, was a writer, mathematician, and pioneer in computer science. She was the daughter of Lord Byron and showed her mathematical abilities at a young age. She received private tutoring from figures such as Mary Somerville, William Frend, and Augustus De Morgan. While working as an assistant to Charles Babbage, she translated an article on his "analytic engine" from Italian to English. She added her notes to produce the first concise explanation of a modern digital computer's design and function. Her notes were longer than the original article and are still considered a classic in early computer literature. The translated paper with Ada's commentary was published in Scientific Memoirs Selected from the Transactions of Foreign Academies of Science and Learned Societies in 1843.
