The Fight for Digital Democracy

The Civilization of Cyberspace is the prerequisite for any attempt to form a Direct Digital Democracy. To be Civilized the platform for DDD must be a level playing field without unfair software privileges. For example, the 'superuser' found in every variation of von Neumann's architecture used today hides unelected powers and unfair privileges that are in direct conflict with the foundation assumptions of equality, freedom and universal suffrage that frame a modern democracy. Further, the mechanics of a General Purpose Computer are distorted by human conventions that centralize authority in a way that will always lead to branded dictatorships, run by monopoly suppliers as digital dictatorships. To colonize cyberspace the platform must support privately protected individuals, the platform must be the scientific servant of society, not the unruly master, infected by malware and hacking. The digital shadows of each and every citizen must be a secure, private extension of the individual, without any mathematical compromise.

To square the circle, the platform of networked computers must be founded on object-oriented, capability-based machine code that adopts the universal computational model of mother nature. This is Alonzo Church's science of the Lambda Calculus that executes pure mathematics as a protected digital gene in a DNA of mathematical relationships that define each human extension as an attached shadow to each individual. In this alternative to von Neumann's centralized shared machine, power is distributed by immutable capability keys that exist in private mathematical namespace, a Cyber Suite that protects each individual from malware and hacking attacks and digital corruption.
